Cessna 180 / 185 PMCF “Power Monster Cross-Flow”
Dual Exhaust System. Bolt-On Horsepower.
Complete replacement of your aircraft's original exhaust system. FAA approved by STC for all Cessna 180 series aircraft.
The PMCF system utilizes separate, equal length, mandrel bent, primary tubes that act as an individual, unobstructed exhaust pipe for each cylinder. This significantly reduces and balances back pressure, resulting in improved combustion efficiency, increased power output, and reductions in both fuel burn & CHT's simply by allowing the engine to function as designed.
Dyno Test Results
The latest dyno test was done at Lycon Engines using I/O-550 11:1 compression ratio engine. It pulled 354 HP & 668 pound feet of torque with the stock Cessna exhaust system @2700 rpm & with the "Power Monster Cross-Flow" dual exhaust, it pulled 381HP & 708 pound feet of torque @2700 rpm, a gain of 27HP & 40 pound feet of torque!!
More Info
The Power Flow is a versatile, quality constructed, complete replacement of the entire exhaust system on your Cessna. A new Cabin and Carburetor Heat shroud (utilizing your current SCAT tube hook-ups) is included. The system is constructed from 321 stainless steel and includes minimal structural welds in the cabin heat section for improved safety.
All necessary parts are included for easy installation. Kits are typically installed in a day or two. The system can be installed by one of our Authorized Dealers, by your local A&P / IA, or you can fly to us for the installation. Fly in with a standard Cessna, fly out tuned for maximum performance and efficiency.
Our industry leading 60 day money back guarantee means that if for some reason the performance benefits listed above fail to materialize on your Cessna, you can return the system to us within 60 days of its installation for a full refund of your purchase price. Fine Print? You just read it.
Standard or ''Quick Off'' Tailpipes
The Power Flow PMCF exhaust is a dual tailpipe system exiting on the original right side and a new hole is made on the left hand side. The standard configuration is a one piece tailpipe that requires that you be able to drop your lower cowling and move aft by approximately 2.5 inches in order to get around the lower section of the tailpipe that is angled aft. If you cannot lower your cowling and move it aft by approximately 2.5 inches due to an obstruction such as a Fairing, Float Support, or large diameter 3 Blade Propeller or have trouble removing your cowling now with only one tailpipe then you will need our "Quick Off / two-piece tailpipe". There is no difference in cost but we do need to plan production for your order.
Polished or Ceramic
Challenger Air Filter
The Challenger Air Filter(CP-1182-kit) replaces the disposable foam filter media found on most aircraft with K&N's high efficiency reusable filter media which provides up to three times more air flow to the intake manifold of the engine. Our own flight testing has repeatedly confirmed Challenger's published data:
As mentioned above, the filter media itself is reusable. You just clean it and recharge it (coat it with oil so the dust sticks to it) once a year during annual and you can reuse it up to 25 times or 2,500 flight hours.
Since the Challenger system significantly improves the intake side of the engine at a very reasonable cost, we consider it to be the perfect complement to our Tuned Exhaust System which significantly improves the exhaust side.
Challenger Oil Filter
The Challenger Oil Filter element is made from medical grade, type 304 stainless steel micron filter cloth providing unmatched protection against oil contamination and resultant engine damage. The nickel-plated rare earth magnet is installed in the top of the element for magnetic pre-filtering of the oil. The unique twist lock design allows for easy disassembly, inspection, and cleaning. The quad-ring gasket doubles the seal between the filter and the engine. The filter housing is machined from a solid piece of 6061 T6 billet aluminum with cooling fins to aid in dissipating heat down 7 degrees. FAA/PMA STC’d one time 337 required. Challenger Oil Filters are EASA Approved.
Features and Benefits
Maple Leaf Dual Exhaust Fairing
Part cosmetic (streamlines the appearance) and part performance, this option slightly reduces the drag of the tailpipe, but more importantly it creates a venturi to improve the air flow through the cowling for better engine cooling and lower CHT’s. The Dual Fairing kit comes complete with STC and simple Installation Instructions. The PMCF kit will require two fairings to cover both exits. If you already have a Maple Leaf fairing equipped, just let us know and we will make sure the parts supplied are correct!
A couple of other important pieces of information
#1) We strongly recommend that the aircraft's propeller be dynamically balanced to within 0.2 IPS(inches per second) upon installation of the Power Flow System and every two to four years thereafter. If the propeller is dynamically balanced within 25 flight hours of the installation of the Power Flow System and you furnish PFS with copies of the logbook entries confirming this, PFS will extend the warranty on the Tuned Exhaust System from 12 months to 24 months or 500 Flight Hours (whichever occurs first).
Doing so every 2 - 4 years thereafter will dramatically improve the useful life and the reliability of every component that is bolted to the engine, including the Power Flow System.
#2) The Power Flow System has no service life limit. It is designed and built to last several thousand flight hours and will quite likely be the last exhaust system you need to buy for your aircraft. As with any high performance system however, it must be maintained properly.
"I gained approx. 8-10 kts, in air speed "
“I gained approx. 8-10 kts, in air speed in wheel ski configuration and 25-35 degree reduction in cylinder EGT readings”. I will update you with more photos and testimonials as the year goes on, configured with wheels and Amphibian floats.

"Take- off was reduced by nearly half "
My experience after your PMCF dual exhaust system was installed on C-182K -67′ with almost 200 flight hours is:
Janos - Hungary
"The new exhaust system has been a definite asset"
I installed the new leading edge exhaust on my C-A185F on Whipline 3730 amphibious floats,to achieve better performance in hot weather no wind take-off conditions.
After installation of the PMCF exhaust (NOTE: Installation of the system is simple and hassle free) I immediately noticed a considerable difference in take-off performance off the water. High ambient temp with high humidity is no longer an issue! The cylinder head temps have also decreased 10-15’F on average. The new exhaust system has been a definite asset to our Fishing Lodge at Macintyre Lake , in Northern Saskatchewan , Canada, flying supplies in and out of the lodge.
